The $3,000 No-Limit Holdem Tournament: Event 29 of the 39th Annual WSOP in 2008

Held at the vibrant gaming floors of the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino within the glamorous City of Las Vegas in the state of Nevada, the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem poker tournament played a major part in the 39th Annual World Series of Poker. From June 15 to 17, 2008, a total 716 of the finest poker players in the world competed against each other in this all-important tourney for the right to earn a prestigious WSOP championship bracelet. Overall, this three-day poker special gathered a total prize pool amounting to $1,976,160.

At the last day of the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem poker tournament of the 39th Annual World Series of Poker, nine super talented players qualified for the final table match between the best of the best poker competitors in the game today. Tony Dunst, David Singer, and Johnny Neckar were among the top players who easily qualified for the finals. Meanwhile, joining them are equally talented and highly skilled competitors such as Sebastian Segovia, Stewart Newman, and Matthew Vengrin. Furthermore, Thuyen Doan, Alex Bolotin, and John Phan comprised the rest of the final table cast.

The opening rounds of the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem finals event of the 39th Annual World Series of Poker started out pretty smooth for all the competitors. However, things changed after Segovia committed crucial errors early on that led to his elimination. For his ninth place performance, he was rewarded with a $39,523 prize. Meanwhile, the eighth spot belonged to Dunst, who then received a high prize amounting to $54,344. In the meantime, Doan's seventh place performance closed out the early rounds of the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem final table event.

During the middle parts of the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem final table event for the 39th Annual World Series of Poker, Newman was the earliest to be eliminated after landing at the sixth place for a take home prize valued at $88,927. Soon enough, Singer followed in his steps to land with the fifth best record, which came with a prize valued at $112,641. After that, Bolotin landed at the fourth best record for the prize amounting to $137,343.

Moving on with the closing rounds of the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem final table event for the 39th Annual World Series of Poker, the remaining players positioned themselves on the way to the final standings. In the end, the third place belonged to Vengrin, the second spot was handed to Neckar, and Phan moved on to become the champion of this prestigious poker tournament. For his third place performance, Vengrin took home a nice cash prize of $167,973, while Neckar was awarded with a stunning prize of $277,452 after taking second place. On the other hand, Phan's performance at this particular event alone earned him $434,789 as well as one of the two WSOP championship bracelets, which he won at the 39th Annual World Series of Poker.
